Lindsay & Daniel are from Schaumburg Illinois but wanted to have their wedding in California. They chose the Eagle Castle Winery in Paso Robles. This unique castle was the foundation of the party that would be their wedding. Both Daniel and Lindsay love animals. In addition to having a horse drawn carriage at the ceremony they also had a local animal rescue team bring in some five beautiful  excott birds for display for the guests during the cocktail hour.  Guests were able to interact with the birds and pose with them for photos.

The pair of black Percheron draft horses were very enthusiastic and just wanted go go go. When they came up to the castle to drop off the Lindsay for her walk down the isle they just kept going. Three more times the handlers tried to stop the horses for Lindsay to get off but they just kept on going round and round the parking lot. It was a little like watching airplanes doing touch and go landings on a runway, passing by each time without really stopping. On the fourth pass, I walked down to the approaching horse team. I holstered my cameras and put my hands up to meet the horses heads  while walking backwards and talking to the horses. THis time they came to a stop so we could get started with the wedding.

I really like getting out to different venues and shooting a variety of locations. This week I was able to work at two new spots in Paso Robles.  The ceremony was held at at Bianchi Winery in an area that overlooks large fields of grape vines. After the ceremony we went over to the Paso Robles Inn for the reception in their Ballroom building. The main ballroom had a very elegant feel to it. Beautiful hardwood floor combine with ornate textured wood walls and ceiling.  The spacious room provides plenty of space for a normal sized wedding without crowding between tables.

Next to the main ballroom is a  large sitting/entry room with a classic piano and a beautiful stair case. This room was a great place to photograph family formal portraits and casual shots. Upstairs above the ballroom are the a number of hotel rooms for the wedding party and guests. Outdoors there is a small garden on the hotel grounds and a large park across the street. These provide a couple of nice outdoor shooting locations.
